According to market rumors, Apple will launch the HomePod Mini 2 on October 13, 2026, six years after the debut of the original model. The expected announcement is part of Apple’s planned “Welcome home” product launch, which may also include a new Apple TV and a display-equipped smart home hub. Industry reports suggest the updated speaker will boast a faster processor, Apple’s N1 wireless chip supporting Wi-Fi 7, enhanced audio hardware, and additional color choices. Apple has confirmed the October 13 event but has not officially announced the second-generation HomePod mini or its specs.

The biggest expected change is around Siri AI and wireless connectivity. The rumored N1 chip could bring Wi-Fi 7 to replace the older 802.11n connection of the original HomePod mini, while a newer processor may enable more capable voice interactions and household controls. There are also reports of a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip that could improve proximity-based interactions with compatible Apple devices. It remains to be seen whether the upgraded Siri will be able to run AI requests directly on the speaker, or will need help from a compatible iPhone. There are also claims of improved sound quality, although Apple has not announced any new speaker drivers or acoustic specs.

The price and retail release date of the HomePod Mini 2 are yet to be confirmed. Apple’s current HomePod mini costs $129 in the United States, up from $99 in June 2026. The new model should keep a similar compact design and pink and green are among the colors that have been rumored. For current owners, whether it’s worth upgrading will come down to whether there are any noticeable gains in audio quality, Siri functionality and support for older HomePod speakers. Apple’s Oct. 13 announcement should clarify what reported features are real, how the new Siri works and when customers can buy the speaker.
